Children's Programs - Staff/Family Communication
Here at Gowrie SA, staff plan for every child on the basis of information from families and their understanding and knowledge of each child's interests and development. They also take into consideration children's likes, dislikes and life experiences. Staff maintain records (portfolios) for every child. These include information about children's communication, growth, interests and achievements and include examples of learning such as drawings, photographs and conversations, along with assessments in the form of Learning Stories.
Staff regularly seek information from families (a child's first and primary teacher) to ensure that our understanding of each child is accurate and strengthened by links to their home and culture. Staff invite families to discuss and document their child's interests and experiences at home, and to comment on and participate in the learning programs provided. The portfolio belongs to each child and can be taken when children leave for school.
We welcome feedback and hope to have a long-term relationship with all families who attend Gowrie SA.
