Children's Programs - Staff/Family Communication
The programs provided at the Gowrie are based on individual children. Staff plan for every child on the basis of their understanding and knowledge of that child's interests and development and taking into consideration their likes, dislikes and life experiences. Staff maintain records for every child. These include staff notes about the child's communication, growth, interests and achievements and include examples of learning such as drawings, photographs and conversations, along with assessments in the form of Learning Stories.
Staff regularly seek information from families (a child's first and primary teacher) to ensure that our understanding of each child is accurate and strengthened by links to their home and culture. Staff invite families to discuss and document their child's development, interests and experiences, and to comment on and participate in the learning programs provided for their child. All records are reflected on and available to families, and may be taken when the child leaves the Centre.
We welcome feedback from families and we hope to have a reciprocal and long-term relationship with all families who attend our service.
